What Montego Bay is known for
The Hip Strip along Gloucester Avenue is Montego Bay’s main tourist stretch, mixing duty-free shopping with beach bars and a lively nightlife scene. Doctor’s Cave Beach is one of the better-known beaches on this stretch of coast. A short distance out of town, Rose Hall Great House gives a look into the island’s plantation-era history. Montego Bay’s cruise port, at Freeport a few miles west of downtown, is Jamaica’s second-largest and one of the busiest arrival points for cruise passengers on the island.
